Killarney - plenty of accomodation options, lively town with lots of nature walks and heritage visits

Killarney

Fantastic visit to the irish town which has the most hotels ever! It seemed like every second or third building on the streetscape was offering accomodation - whether it be a hotel, a B&B, an inn, the options were endless. We had a fantastic time, stayed at the Flesk River apartments which are between the Brehon and the Gleneagle hotels. This gave us a lot of flexibility around eating and coming & going over our 3-day stay.
Our first evening, we got a take away from the Khao Pad restaurant - highly recommended for delicious Thai food, pricing was reasonable, and meticulous care was taken by the staff in preparing our order - they noticed when checking the order from kitchen that one meal was missing, and dealt with it promptly. It was resolved within a few minutes and we did not need to get involved at all.
We spent a day exploring Killarney on foot - and were absolutely entranced by all the shops, particularly the outdoor stores which offered a range of really good quality walking gear at keen prices. Our apartment was about 15 minutes walk into town which worked well for us as a family with teenagers (just enough walking to tire them out and less pressure on parents to drive them!). We also took a fantastic walk by the Lake Hotel to see spectacular lake views, and a riverside stroll to the Killarney racecourse - part of this walkway is bordered by fantastic nature murals (see attached photos). We visited Ross castle in the evening and clambered amongst the buildings and explored the various row boat marinas bordering the lake.
